Most forecasts break on the buyer's side of the table. This week I'm sharing a five-field map that fixes that. Plus Clay's agent push and a browser that one customer says replaced a Clay seat. I'm also starting something new at the bottom.

THE SIGNAL

Clay Wants You to Describe the Outcome, Not Build the Table

At its first Sculpt conference on October 8 Clay announced three new things. Agent-first building lets you describe an outcome while an agent plans and runs the play. Clay Workflows is a visual builder now in beta for all users. The Inbound SDR Agent is a voice agent that's waitlist only. No pricing came with any of them so pilot with hard credit caps.

Polar Says a Customer Cancelled Clay

Polar is an AI browser built by a former Perplexity Comet engineer. It raised a $5.7M seed led by Madrona in July. You type a task in plain English and it works through your sites and tabs. Founder Kevin Jiang says Polar has run 4.5M actions and one unnamed customer saves 25+ hours per person per week and cancelled Clay. That's the company's own claim. Test it on one list-building job before you touch your stack.

Avarra Bets on Better Reps Instead of Fewer

Avarra closed a $17M Series A on October 7 led by Duration Ventures with Zoom among the strategic investors. Its AI avatars prep reps before calls and join live deals to answer questions. The company says ARR grew more than 400% year over year. The pitch runs opposite to the AI SDR wave: make the human better instead of replacing the human.

THE PLAY

The Decision Process Map

A deal can have a champion and a real problem and still have no clear path to signature. This map from Pipeline Playbook shows the buyer's remaining steps before you call a deal Commit. Fill five fields for every current-quarter deal:

1. Sequence: every step the buyer needs before yes in order.

2. Owner: who runs each step on their side.

3. Evidence: what each owner needs to see to move.

4. Timing: when each step must happen for your close date to hold.

5. Failure point: what could stall each step.

The rule: no deal enters Commit until all five fields are filled. If the close date sits inside the quarter but the sequence is vague then the forecast should carry that doubt.

THE PROMPT: Paste your call notes and emails for one deal into Claude and ask: “Build a five-column decision process map for this deal. Mark every field you're guessing as UNKNOWN and list the three questions I should ask my champion to fill the gaps.”

Run it on your top three Commit deals today.

THE UPGRADE

Treg: Verified Work Emails Starting at $0.0089

What it replaces: Treg is a pay-per-call catalog of 111 data providers behind one login that Claude Code can call directly. Email finds start at $0.0089 and misses cost nothing. Treg's own receipt shows 20 verified emails for $0.58. Its README lists Apollo at $59 a seat for comparison.

Set it up in 2 minutes: run curl -fsSL treg.to/install.sh | sh then treg login. Or tell your agent to set up treg from treg.to/llms.txt. New accounts get $1 in free credit. Then ask for the marketing lead at 10 target companies with verified work emails. It's open source under Apache 2.0 with a no-resale clause.

Heads up: the #1 on People Search Bench claim is Treg's own and I couldn't find it on the benchmark's public leaderboard where Lessie leads. The data comes from third-party providers so check your own outreach rules first.

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH GRANOLA

Show Up to Every Call Already Prepped

Your last three calls are scattered across sticky notes and a half-finished doc.

Granola is the AI notepad that transcribes straight from your computer while you stay present in the conversation. Ask Granola Chat what happened on any past call and walk into the next one already prepped. (Just let the room know.)

RAPID FIRE

  • Ayven is an AI coordinator that drives your team's agenda and nudges owners on follow-ups so nobody chases status in standups.

  • Notely turns the notes you take on calls into tasks you approve and syncs them to Google Calendar.

  • SpeechShield transcribes each question live and surfaces talking points from your prepared materials. It's a Mac app that's free to download.

  • Jarq translates or shortens whatever you're writing right at your cursor in any app. Handy for Slack replies and cold emails.

SIDE INCOME IDEA

This week's real numbers

My local newsletter Scottsdale Scoop has pulled in $8,000 in revenue over the last 3 months. It has 13,943 subscribers and costs me $0.36 per new subscriber on Meta ads this week. It runs on beehiiv and two AI agents find my sponsors.

I call it the Advertiser Radar. One agent scans who's already paying to advertise in Scottsdale across magazines and coupon mailers. It verifies a contact and screenshots the real ad. Another drops each find on one board and drafts the outreach. I review and click send and take the calls.

Steal it: pick one local magazine or mailer and list every advertiser. Then email them: “Saw your ad in X. Want to reach 14,000 locals who open their email?”

Takeaway: a business that already buys ads doesn't need convincing that ads work. You're just pitching a better channel.
