An AI agent just negotiated half a billion dollars of software deals, a new startup raised money to help you sell to agents instead of people and a rep found out Claude will send an email in your voice that never happened. Here's the three-step check that catches it.

THE SIGNAL

An AI Agent Just Negotiated $500M of Software Deals

Procurement platform Vertice launched Ana, an autonomous negotiation agent trained on 250,000-plus negotiated contracts and $75B in indirect spend. It drafts every message in the buyer's own voice, runs unlimited negotiations at once and has already closed 4,000-plus live deals at an average 18 percent savings. It backs up what Jason Lemkin posted this week: in B2B today, whoever's running the best agent in the category wins the deal. Procurement used to be the department that slowed a deal down. Now it might be the one running the hardest bargain against you.

A New Startup Wants You to Sell to the Agent, Not the Buyer

Lightsage raised $4M to build what it calls Agent-Led Growth: running real tasks through coding agents like Claude Code and Cursor against your product, then finding and fixing whatever makes the agent fail (bad docs, a missing API endpoint, a broken auth flow). Aaron Levie's line from this week captures the shift underneath it: “the internet is almost entirely unprepared for a future where everyone's personal agents are running around executing tasks for them.” If an agent evaluates your product before a human ever does, your buyer journey now has two audiences.

Everyone Uses AI. One in Five Trust It With Anything Real

Salesloft's 2026 Revenue Benchmark report surveyed 500 U.S. revenue leaders and found 100 percent use AI somewhere in the revenue process, but only 20.6 percent call their deployment production-ready with measurable outcomes. Another 28.2 percent are still experimenting and 38.4 percent want a guided model where AI recommends and a human still decides. That gap between adoption and trust is the whole story behind today's Play.

THE PLAY

The Made-Up Fact Audit

Anthropic shipped write actions to Claude's Google Workspace connector, so it can now send, reply to and forward Gmail on your behalf.

Jay Campbell tested it on ten live email threads he was actually mid-conversation on. It never invented a price, a discount or a term. It made up something else five times out of nine, every time about something that supposedly already happened: a shipped feature that hadn't shipped, a meeting length nobody agreed to, a relative date that quietly slid to the wrong week.

Reading the draft for tone catches nothing. Tone is the easiest part for a model to get right. Here's the three-step check that catches what tone can't, about 35 minutes total.

1. Ten threads, ten drafted replies: connect Gmail, leave approval on and pull ten real threads across the classes you actually send: a scheduling note, a recap carrying terms, an onboarding message, a nudge on someone gone quiet and at least one pushback. Screenshot every draft before you approve or reject it. That screenshot is the only record you get.

2. Trace every claim to a line: for each factual statement in each draft, ask one question: where in the thread does this come from? Mark it GROUNDED (you can quote the line), INFERRED (the thread makes it likely but doesn't establish it) or MADE UP (nothing supports it). Grade the grounds, not whether the claim happens to be true.

3. Set the toggle by class, not by vibe: a class earns unattended send only if it scored zero MADE UP across every thread tested. Everything else keeps the per-message approval on. Write one line per class: the name, SEND or HOLD and the sentence pattern that would make you regret automating it.

The Prompt:

“Here's an email thread and a reply drafted for it. For every factual claim in the reply: 1. Quote the claim. 2. Quote the line in the thread that supports it or write NO LINE. 3. Mark it GROUNDED, INFERRED or MADE UP. Check specifically for anything stated as already done, sent, shipped or completed, any relative date resolved against today's date of [DATE] and any number or timeframe I never put in the thread. Don't tell me whether the claim is true, tell me whether the thread supports it. THREAD: [PASTE] DRAFTED REPLY: [PASTE]”

THE UPGRADE

Nex: A GTM Agent That Runs the Grind a Claude Limit Can't Survive

Built by ex-HubSpot platform leads and backed by HubSpot founder Dharmesh Shah, Nex describes itself as Claude Cowork for high-volume GTM work: describe a goal and it builds an agent that runs it end to end across 1,400-plus integrations, the kind of bulk CRM cleanup, list enrichment or dedupe pass that would burn your entire weekly Claude or Codex limit overnight. It launched on Product Hunt September 3 and took #1 Product of the Day.

2-minute setup:

1. Start the free 7-day trial at nex.ai, no charge on day one.

2. Connect your CRM and data sources from the 1,400-plus integrations.

3. Point it at one grindy workflow, like deduping and enriching a stale list.

4. Review and approve the run before it touches your CRM for real.
